The collaboration between the City of Murcia, the concessionaire company STV Gestión and the Association for the integration of people with intellectual disabilities (CEOM) has allowed more than a dozen young people with disabilities to work in the maintenance and improvement of parks and gardens. Murcia and districts.
"We do not want to create distinctions between people when working and that is why we have created teams in which there is synergy and integration of these 13 young people with the most veteran professionals in the parks and gardens company," explains the mayor of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén
The young people are at all times accompanied by a tutor who teaches them the trade related to the care and maintenance of the different parks and gardens of Murcia and districts, learning and training like any professional who starts a work activity.
Between the diverse tasks that realize every day are the irrigation of gardens as well as the plantation of different copies of plants and flowers that decorate the green zones of Murcia.
Specifically, one of the spaces where this group of young people is working is the municipal nursery of Mayayo where they are dedicated, among other tasks, to the installation of irrigation systems and the planting of geraniums.
Recently, these 13 young people have already acquired the certificate of level I professionalism 'Auxiliary activities in nurseries, gardens and gardening centers' and are developing level II of 'Installation and maintenance of gardens and green areas', funded by the SEF .
The goal of both the company STV Management and the City of Murcia is to get a training and integration of these people to get them to learn a trade, while showing society their skills and work skills for, in this case for example, play the care and maintenance of the parks and gardens of Murcia and districts.
