The Councilor for Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, Rebeca Pérez, accompanied by the president of the District Board of Vistabella, Rafael Gómez, this morning visited the repair works of the Jorge Manrique gangway, pedestrian bridge that connects the district of Infante with the Vistabella.
The works, developed within the maintenance contract of the public road, have begun with the assembly of a network at the bottom of the walkway, designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, in order that the works can be developed safely to the time that elements can not fall into the river bed.
Once the network has been assembled, the glass pavement will be disassembled to subsequently clean the structure in detail before placing the new pavement.
Finally, work will be done on the assembly of stainless steel sheets on which finally a non-slip treatment with resins will be applied, which will be the finishing of the pedestrian zone.
To develop the works, which will last 45 days, it will be necessary to close this bridge to pedestrian traffic.
Councilwoman Rebeca Perez, has indicated that "this new treatment is very similar to the existing Manterola catwalk whose effectiveness is already demonstrated."
