A hundred researchers of Classical Philology from all over Spain meet at the UMU (06/03/2018)

The Faculty of Letters of the University of Murcia welcomes from tomorrow the VI National Congress Ganimedes, which will bring together a hundred young researchers from Classical Studies throughout Spain.

This conference, which takes place every year in a different city, aims to share the work and concerns of researchers in areas such as Latin, Greek and Ancient History.

The meeting, organized by the Association of Novel Researchers of Classical Philology, will be held on 7, 8 and 9 March.

The opening ceremony of the congress will take place tomorrow at 9.30 in the Hemicycle of the Faculty of Letters, in the Campus of La Merced.

Throughout the three days of the congress, 60 communications will be read, including titles such as: Pythagoras, the first defender of animal rights in the West, which will be presented by a student from the Complutense University of Madrid, María Flores Rivas .

On the part of the University of Murcia, there will be 7 communications from students of its Doctoral School.

In addition to the academic program, attendees of the Congress will be able to enjoy this Wednesday afternoon the performance of the Casandra play, written by Dr. Diana de Paco, member of the UMU Classical Philology Department.

José Ángel López Jiménez, Vice Chancellor of Teaching Staff will attend the opening ceremony of the congress;

Antonio González, director-manager of the Séneca Foundation;

Pascual Cantos Gómez, dean of the Faculty of Arts;

José Carlos Miralles, director of the department of the Murcia section of the Spanish Society of Classical Studies;

and Chyntia Pérez Carrillo, President of the Organizing Committee.
