The Municipal Socialist Group has promoted a tribute act to the writer from Oriolan Miguel Hernández, who "has been denied by the PP in the City of Murcia throughout 2017, declared Hernandian Year on the 75th anniversary of his death."
Therefore, the Municipal Group has organized with the family of the writer from Oriola the presentation of the book "The complete work of Miguel Hernández", this Monday at the Palacio González Campuzano, from 19.30, with the presence of the daughter-in-law of Hernández , Lucía Izquierdo, and the editor Jesucristo Riquelme.
The socialist spokesperson, Susana Hernández, and Councilman Sebastián Peñaranda will intervene in the act.
It must be remembered that in June 2017, the Socialist councilor Begoña García Retegui defended a motion in which she demanded from the Municipal Culture Manager greater involvement of the City Council in the commemoration of the Hernandian Year, especially after being part of the Committee in charge of precisely organizing acts to spread the life and work of the poet.
Therefore, asked the government team to promote, disseminate and support events that record the commitment of the municipality of Murcia with Miguel Hernandez and their active participation in all events of the Organizing Committee of the "75th Anniversary of the death of the poet."
The Municipal Socialist Group also promoted that Miguel Hernández be declared the Adopted Son of the City in 2011.
The link between Miguel Hernández and Murcia is quite close since it is here where he meets García Lorca and where he publishes his first book, "Perito en lunas".
He was a friend of the painter Ramón Gaya and the writers Raimundo de los Reyes, Carmen Conde, Antonio Oliver and María Cegarra.
In the newspaper La Verdad he publishes the poems of his first period.
Next March 28 will be 76 years of his death.
