The president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, together with the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Monsignor José Manuel Lorca Planes, representatives of the Government of the Autonomous Community and the City Council of Murcia have inaugurated this morning the international volunteer exhibition organized by the Catholic University in the framework of the XVII International Conference of Charity and Volunteering.

More than one hundred associations dedicated to assist and help those most in need in the fields of health, education and social communication, among others, are installed in this exhibition that will remain on the Paseo Alfonso X el Sabio de Murcia until this coming Sunday March 4.

In words to the media, José Luis Mendoza has stressed the importance of the University being involved with charitable associations through voluntary actions.

"Our mission is to serve, serve and serve, to do it for love, in generous giving, within other missions that we have as a university, such as quality education and research, It is fundamental to always be close to the poorest, the most needy , of those who suffer the most ".

The UCAM collaborates with these associations not only by providing students to develop volunteer work and health professionals, but also economically, dedicating an annual amount of money.

The president of the Catholic University also recalled that in the institution he represents, he welcomes students from countries that live in conflict, such as Iraq, "people who have lost their entire family because they have been murdered, we have welcomed them into the College".

Also, Mendoza announced that the teaching institution will do the same with people from Syria. "

For his part, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities, Manuel Marcos Sánchez, has congratulated the Catholic University of Murcia for these conferences, and has highlighted his work of help: "because a university that does not have that obligation to do it, the truth that goes a lot goes there. "

Monsignor Lorca Planes, recalled that there are still people with difficulties, and the important work done by charities in this field.

"Murcia, and the Murcia respond well," he said, adding that "UCAM has taken this seriously, they are going out, so that we all realize the needs of people who need our help If this is a call for us to be able to, at least in this Lent, say count on me, you will be welcome. "
