Ignacio Martín Lerma, researcher at the UMU, receives the Ruralmur prize in the research category.
This award praises the work of entities, companies and outstanding people in the cultural, sports and gastronomy of the Region of Murcia.
This distinction highlights his studies on the Paleolithic in the Region.
In particular, his work in the Cueva del Arco (Cieza), a first level site of the Middle and Upper Paleolithic of the peninsular southeast.
The expert says that "it is a real luxury to share this award with the other award-winning personalities and a huge incentive to follow this difficult but exciting task of investigating our Past."
Also, the recognition is also for his career as a disseminator.
Martín Lerma combines his research with the dissemination of prehistory through conferences, workshops or in the blog 'PaleoPlaneta', of which he is the director.
"Our region deserved a good study of its most remote origins and this is just the beginning," stresses the scientist.
The award ceremony of the VI Edition of the Ruralmur Awards will take place at the Crafts Center of Murcia, on Friday, March 9, 2018. "This award will be celebrated with all those people who support my projects on a daily basis. They are constantly fighting for the conservation of the Heritage, this recognition is as much yours as mine, "says the researcher.
