Murcia thus becomes the only municipality, next to Fuente Álamo, without a specific council that works these competences
Murcia change has reported today that the mayor, José Ballesta, has decided to abolish the Department of Youth to integrate their skills in the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, where he shares the area with waste management and road cleaning.
The councilor of the municipal training, Margarita Guerrero, explained that, with the elimination of this council, Murcia becomes the only municipality in the region, along with Fuente Alamo, which does not have a specific council of Youth.
In words of Guerrero, the decision of Ballesta, besides "contributing to invisibilizar to the youthful collective", demonstrates the "null interest" of the Popular Party to take care of the needs of and the young people of the municipality.
"Youth policies must be developed in spaces of maximum autonomy for decision-making, and we understand that it is necessary to give them the space that this sector of the population deserves," he added.
The mayor recalled that youth policies "can not focus exclusively on leisure activities and free time," and that is why Murcia Murcia introduced at the beginning of the legislature a motion to draw up a Youth Plan, which is now in deadlock due to a problem of competences derived from the reform of the Law of Bases of Local Regime.
"We consider it necessary to highlight the policies of youth that are suffering a constant attack with the successive regulatory reforms of the PP," concluded Guerrero.
