The Romea Theater hosts today the 1st Classical Theater Conference in which various artists and members of the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain participate.
The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco, thanked "the Academy that has chosen Murcia and the epicenter of the city's cultural activity, the Romea Theater, to celebrate its first day of Classical Theater. the City Council will continue to reserve an important space for performing arts programming to the Spanish classics for their artistic value and because it is necessary for them to transcend time. During the morning, there was a meeting between the president of the Academy, Jesús Cimarro, with professors and students from the University of Murcia, the School of Dramatic Art of Murcia (ESAD) and representatives of professional associations in the sector.
The purpose of this meeting is to publicize the institution and the goals pursued: To promote the scenic arts of our country, and promote their national and international promotion and promote their development and improvement.
The event, organized in collaboration with the University of Murcia and the City Council, will culminate tonight with the delivery of the Gold Medals of the Academy to the entities and institutions that have most stood out in the promotion of classical theater in our country, the distinctions of Academics of Honor to several professionals of the scene of recognized prestige and the Special Medal of the Day to the University of Murcia, for their attention and works on the Spanish classics.
Thus, tonight at the Casino, the Gold Medals of the Academy will receive the National Company of Classical Theater, the International Festival of Classical Theater of Almagro, the Golden Age Theater Days of Almeria, the TC / 12 Heritage Network Classic Spanish Theater and the Siglo de Oro Foundation.
Also, honorary academics will be named playwright José Luis Alonso de Santos, set designers Montse Amenós and Ramón Ivars, actress Lola Herrera and actor José Sacristán.
Also present will be the directors Lluís Pasqual (Teatre Lliure), Helena Pimenta (National Company of Classical Theater), Ignacio García (Festival de Almagro) and the actor Antonio Resines, among others.
