Huermur initiated this plan in 2016 formed by a set of initiatives for the conservation and protection of the cultural heritage of the Huerta de Murcia region, which includes the municipalities of Murcia, Alcantarilla, Santomera and Beniel.
The association decided to undertake this initiative, observing the large amount of heritage in danger that exists in the garden and in the city, so it was launched to ensure that it conserves and protects this heritage, as a resource for the future and culture.
The initiative of the PatrimurSOS Plan has been settled today with hundreds of complaints of damage to heritage, as for example the case of the Castle of Monteagudo, the Rue de la Ñora, the Paseo del Malecon, the Contraparada, the Casa de Antonete Gálvez , and numerous and diverse monuments of the region that go from bridges and mills, to tower houses, happening through archaeological deposits and arriving at castles and defensive structures.
Huermur also indicates that various applications for the protection of cultural property have been undertaken that did not possess any type of protection, and that after the performance of the Huermur initiative they have achieved protection under the law, such as the Molino de Alfatego , the Torres Canal, the Aqueduct of Felices, or recently the San Salinas Royal Saltworks dating from the thirteenth century.
In the same way and not least, the PatrimurSOS plan includes the realization of awareness-raising activities for the public and public administrations on the importance of conserving and protecting the cultural heritage of our land, as a resource of wealth, tourism, culture for the society.
From the conservationist organization point out that the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union approved, on May 17, 2017, the decision establishing the declaration of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. The European cultural heritage is not just a legacy of the past, is also an essential resource for our future, given its unquestionable educational and social value, its considerable economic potential, as well as its important dimension in international cooperation.
Based on these principles, the objectives of the European Year are to promote the exchange and appreciation of Europe's cultural heritage as a shared resource, raise awareness about history and common values and reinforce a sense of belonging to a common European area.
A better understanding and appreciation, especially among young people, of their shared and diverse heritage will help to consolidate the feeling of belonging to the Union and will strengthen intercultural dialogue.
It is necessary, therefore, to promote greater access to cultural heritage and increase its European dimension.
Finally, Huermur will participate throughout the year 2018 with the European Year of Cultural Heritage through social networks with the official tog #EuropeforCulture and under the slogan "Our heritage.
Where the past meets the future ", from the website of the association www.huermur.es, and the activities and projects that arise during the European Union initiative.
