The study "Spanish Universities: An Autonomous Perspective, 2017", evaluates 69 universities in the country, analyzes the data from the U-Multirank, among others, in which the Catholic University of Murcia is ranked 22nd, the University of Murcia in 53 and UPCT in 58. The study is based on five indicators: teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, international orientation and contribution to regional development.

2017 ', which evaluates a total of 69 universities, both public and private, has been developed by the Knowledge and Development Foundation (CyD) whose board chairs Ana Botín.
It contains the latest data from official sources of the Ministry and information from different rankings such as the U-Multirank, which at the national level places the Catholic University of Murcia in 22nd place, while the University of Murcia occupies the position 53, and the Polytechnic of Cartagena 58.
To carry out this report, different indicators encompassed in the areas of: teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, international orientation and contribution to regional development have been taken into account.
With these data the UCAM is placed in the first third of the classification, and first highlighted of the regional university system.
On these results Manuel Carlos Ruiz, Vice Chancellor of Quality and Academic Organization of the Catholic University, says that "they indicate that the activity of the UCAM is a boost for the regional university system and with this we encourage to continue evolving all in these terms of quality" .
