The day will begin at 9:15 with the inauguration, which will also present the documentary "Geology of the Region of Murcia", produced by the Integra Foundation, and which has had the scientific advice of members of the Research group of Geology of the UMU.
Its first chapter will also be screened.
The act will be held in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Chemistry "Hermenegildo Lumeras de Castro".
The tests will begin at 10:45 and will consist of a test type test related to the geological contents of the ESO and Bachillerato and a visual recognition of 12 specimens of rocks, minerals and fossils.
At the end of the test the participating students will visit the open-air Rock Museum Rafael Arana Castillo.
"With this initiative, we stimulate and involve high school students in the knowledge of geology, while highlighting the importance of this scientific branch in today's world," says Francisco Guillén, UMU professor and member of the organizing committee .
The selected ones will form the group that will represent the Region of Murcia in the national phase of the Olympiad, which will take place in La Granja (Segovia) on March 17.
The winners of the national phase of this Olympiad will go to the international final that will be in Kanchanaburi (Thailand).
