The patron saint of the city of Murcia, the Virgen de la Fuensanta, will descend Thursday from her sanctuary in Algezares to the capital to remain in the Cathedral during Lent, Easter Week and Spring Festival.
The patron saint of Murcia, who visits the city twice a year, will depart at 3:00 p.m. from her shrine in the mountain to arrive at approximately 7:00 p.m. at the parish of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Murcia, where It will be received by the Bishop of Cartagena and the local authorities, who from there will accompany her to the Cathedral, where she will remain until April 17, which will be when she returns to her sanctuary.
'La Morenica' will go down to Murcia for its usual route as confirmed by the Cathedral Chapter.
The throne of the Virgin will be directed by Joaquín Vidal Coy, a new cape named for a period of five years by the Cathedral Chapter.
The visit that the patron saint of Murcia now makes is on the occasion of the anniversary of the canonical coronation of the image, which took place in the spring of 1927. On Sunday, April 15, the Eucharist commemorating this anniversary will be celebrated in the Cathedral.
