Youth receives the first two European volunteers who will collaborate in the design of a campaign on inclusion and participation for young people with disabilities (20/02/2018)

The Councilor for Youth and Development Cooperation, Rebeca Pérez, has received two of the European volunteers who, within the project "European Voluntary Service, a tool for the social inclusion of young people with visual disabilities", will volunteer in the City of Murcia between March 15 and September.

It is a program that has the backing of the Erasmus + program of the European Union and will allow launching an information campaign designed by 4 young European volunteers with visual disabilities together with groups and associations of young people with disabilities and other associations juveniles of the municipality of Murcia.

The main objective is to promote participation in European mobility programs, especially in the European Voluntary Service, at the same time as the Erasmus Plus program is announced as a tool for social integration.

Today's visit is a first contact of volunteers with our city and will serve for two days young people approach the activity of the Youth Service, facilities and daily work of the ONCE Territorial Delegation in Murcia, or a visit to the Language Club in which they will play an active role together with the participants of these courses.

Thanks to the project there will be four young people who will arrive in Murcia during the next 12 months, divided into two 6-month stays.

In this case, the first to start their activities will be the volunteers are Julien Migliore, a young Belgian of 29 years (mechanics of the car and logistics operator) and Piotr Bartowski, a young man born in Poland and 28 years old (Graduated in History, Psychopedagogy and Computer and Adaptation Expert for people with disabilities).

Both have arrived in Murcia accompanied by representatives of their sending organizations, International Views and Polski Zwiazek Niewidomych (Polish Connection of the Blind), associations that enhance European volunteering, as does the Youth Service of the City of Murcia.

During their stay in the capital, they will collaborate with the design of the dissemination campaign that they will launch on the EVS as a means of inclusion and participation for young people with disabilities to favor inclusion and diversity.

A measure with which to offer EVS as an option for promotion and learning for people with visual disabilities and also for other young people.

"While inclusion for all ensures that all young people can participate, the goal of diversity ensures that all people can participate on their own terms, recognizing the value of differences in standards, beliefs, attitudes and life experiences.

This project aims to be a tool for inclusion and, at the same time, to train young people to manage diversity in a positive and respectful way, "the councilor detailed.
