Next Friday, February 16, at 7:30 p.m., in the auditorium of the Moneo Building of the City of Murcia (Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, Murcia), José Carlos Pastor Jimeno, Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Valladolid and Chief of Service of the University Clinical Hospital of said city, will give the lecture: "The most frequent diseases of the retina".
This conference is part of the activities organized by the Faculty of Optics and Optometry of the University of Murcia to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Degree in Optics and Optometry.
The objective is to make known the most important causes of blindness of retinal cause and how to prevent it.
As Professor Jimeno explained, there are four diseases that cause the majority of cases of blindness in our society: diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, pathological myopia and retinal detachments.
Pastor Jimeno has an extensive scientific production, with numerous scientific articles, books, book chapters, and doctoral theses directed.
Among the national and international awards and distinctions, the Castroviejo and Arruga Prize of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology, the Prize of the Social Council of the University of Valladolid, and the Castilla y León Prize for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation stand out.
