The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, attended this morning the audience of HM King Don Felipe as a member of the Governing Board of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
Don Felipe received in the Palace of La Zarzuela the Governing Board of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), the association of local state-level entities with the greatest implantation, which groups City Councils, County Councils, Councils and Island Councils, in total 7,324, representing more than 90% of the Spanish Local Governments.
The foundational aims of the FEMP are the promotion and defense of the autonomy of Local Entities, the development and consolidation of the European spirit at the local level, and the provision of all kinds of services to Local Corporations.
The Governing Board is the body in charge of carrying out the agreements of the Territorial Council and Plenary of the FEMP, to designate representatives of the Local Corporations in those organisms where there is local representation, to administer the Federation's patrimony, to admit new members, Agree to file as many legal actions as necessary in the defense of local interests or appoint and dismiss, at the proposal of the President, the person exercising the functions of the General Secretariat.
