Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13, the IV Greco-Roman Theater Festival of Murcia, organized by the IES Saavedra Fajardo, with the support of the Murcia City Council, will be held at the Romea Theater in Murcia, and will feature two school theater groups: Komos of the IES Districte Marítim de Valencia and Caligae of the IES José Luís Castillo Puche de Yecla.
The tragedy Antígona de Sófocles and the comedy Lisítrata de Aristophanes, which will be the works that will be performed, will have the full capacity as more than 600 students belonging to thirteen Secondary Education Institutes of the Region of Murcia, the Valencian Community and the University of Murcia will attend the two performances.
The Komos Group of Valencia was created in 2003 at the IES Vicenta Ferrer Escrivà .
Currently has about 80 people in the team and is located in the Secondary School Districte Marítim de Valencia.
He has obtained, among others, the first national prize in the Buero Awards for Young Theater in its two modalities and the first prize in the National Contest of Greco-Latin Theater of the Ministry of Education.
The Yeclano Caligae Group was born in the 2012-13 academic year and the first work it staged was the adaptation of the Murcian author Aristides Minguez, Caligae Magnificus, based on Miles Gloriosus de Plauto.
It is formed by ESO and Bachillerato students of the IES José Luis Castillo Puche and its directors are Engracia Robles and José Antonio Mellado teachers of this center.
The great representation they made in Elche on May 12 made them win the prize in the II School Contest of Greco-Latin Theater of Alicante.
In this contest, in addition to obtaining the first prize as best work, they also received the award for best actress for Ana Rosa Martínez and best supporting actor, which went to Pablo Martínez.
