The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage, Rafa Gómez, and the Vice-Chancellor for Students, Internationalization and Sports of the UMU, Carmen Ferrándiz, welcomed the international university students this afternoon they start studying at the University of Murcia in this second semester of the 2017-2018 academic year.
The mayor dedicated a few words in Spanish and English to the 178 students from 20 countries, whom he named "adopted children of the city".
José Ballesta stressed that "Murcia is a city with history and heart" and encouraged young people to feel at home, "because this is your home."
The students come mostly from Europe (Italy at the head with 68 young people followed by France with 31), Latin America and Asia.
In the act the councilman Rafael Gómez presented to the students the interactive application 'Murcia en tu móvil', an App that advises and guides Erasmus youth and their families during their stay in our city.
