The rector of the University of Murcia (UMU), José Orihuela, has participated in the General Assembly of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), which has been held in Valencia, and in which its president, Roberto Fernández, presented a political agenda that contains the demand for more funding and the development of proposals that improve the current situation of teachers and the PAS.
During his speech, Fernandez told the representatives of 76 universities that are part of the CRUE the proposal that will make the social councils of universities, employers and unions to reach a consensus that calls on Parliament to put on the front line of action to Spanish universities.
The ultimate goal would be to achieve a State Pact that could lead to a new Law of Universities and allow these to take their place in the global strategy for the future of Spain.
In the course of the session, the appointment of the rector of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Miguel Angel Collado, as president of the sector of Students, position in which he replaced Orihuela, who will leave the position soon after not showing up, was approved. reelection to the Rector's Office.
