The Plenary Hall of the City of Murcia will be the stage on February 11 of the final of the 5th BP Debate Tournament "Ciudad de Murcia".
A meeting organized by the Debate Club of the UM in collaboration with the City of Murcia and the University of Murcia that was presented this morning by the Councilor for Youth, Rebeca Pérez.
The more than 30 participating teams and judges will arrive on Friday, February 9, the day on which the opening of the Tournament will take place in the Degrees Hall of the Faculty of Law.
The main competition rounds will be held throughout Saturday in the classrooms of La Merced and on Sunday 11 will be the time of the semifinal in the Annex Building to the City Council, which will give way to the rookie final before hosting the outcome of the tournament in absolute category.
"We have to value the good work that this group of Murcian young people do every year to make the competition debate more and more important in Spanish Universities." The UM was one of the pioneers in Spain to launch this type of events, consolidated as a great reference at national level and that can be attended by any neighbor or neighbor of the municipality, "said Rebeca Perez during her speech.
For this, 4 teams of 2 people, organized in Government-Opposition and Upper-Lower Chamber will debate in a room several motions in a format of eliminatory.
The topic to be discussed can range from International Relations to Economics, through Politics or Bioethics.
As for the organization of the Tournament, the Galician Aida González, world champion of debate in Castilian 2016 and best speaker of the world 2017 will be the Head of the Adjudication Team (responsible for putting the topics of debate and coordinating the judges).
For this will be accompanied by the global debate runner-up 2016 Juncal León (UAM), the debate professor in ICAI-CADE Francisco Valiente, the Murcian lawyer and also world sub-champion of debate 2015, Sergio Melero, and the Murcian debaters Verónica Salinas and José Miguel Rojo
