The Socialist Municipal Group has criticized today that the government team, the PP, is dedicated to "patch" to correct the great deterioration of a historical and heritage asset as is the Aljufía ditch.
For the councilor Enrique Ayuso, who recently visited the irrigation ditch at the height of La Ñora, the repair works on part of the walls of the Aljufía, which are falling into the channel at several points "represent only a solution that solves the problem punctually and halfway, so, given the importance of it and its great historical value, it would have been desirable to have a comprehensive plan that covered the entire canal, including the wheel of La Ñora, and left it in good condition, especially when It was necessary to cut the water to raise a small wall that covers a few meters ".
However, for the councilman, "we do not miss anything, since the PP, regardless of the administration that directs, takes our heritage seriously, although in this case, for once you understand that you have to resolve a deficiency , he does it without foresight because while he repairs one part another is falling ".
Ayuso explains that the acequias network of the municipality of Murcia "is one of our most outstanding signs of identity, a heritage that should be pampered and shown to the visitor as a unique and unrepeatable asset and, nevertheless, apathy and neglect are what they prevail and those that are doing that little by little it is diminished until it disappears as much as another patrimony ".
Therefore, it demands that, "without delay, be designed and executed by the responsible administrations an integral plan that conserves and maintains our ditches, that in spite of the passed centuries continue doing a great paper in our orchard, to the point that they are irreplaceable "and points out that" this conservation must be done according to historical and environmental criteria ".
The councilor also points out that during the Debate of the State of the Municipality, the Socialist Group proposed the development of a program of actions in the traditional hydraulic network of the garden that gives rise to be able to request that this be a UNESCO Heritage, together with the Council of Good Men, what "would contribute in a very remarkable way to put in value this infrastructure so rich and exceptional of Murcia and, at the same time, to propitiate the maintenance that it deserves".
For everything, he insists again to the government team that "take action on the matter and act with caution and haste while preserving this heritage before it goes to waste".
