Promote research and innovative activities that promote the competitiveness of the sector are some of the objectives of the magazine "Grand Tour", created by the School of Tourism at the University of Murcia and the first issue has been presented today during a ceremony held at convalescence.
The director of publication, Mercedes Escriche Millán, said that this magazine will have an interdisciplinary and collect studies not only of teachers and researchers from the School of Tourism, but also from other Spanish and foreign scholars.
"Our intention is to provide an overview of tourism, analyzing issues such as economic, geographic, social, historical, political and others, and everyone from the perspective of its authors," stated Miller.
The director added that the magazine respect quality criteria and requirements and that it be published in both paper and digital version, which will be posted on the school website.
This first issue is concerned, among other things, new residential landscapes in the vicinity of Mar Menor, in a paper by Maria Dolores Ponce Sánchez, planning, tourism and territory, Escriche Millán, and the Jubilee Year of Caravaca Cross, written by José Antonio García Ayala.
Other works turn on the impact that tourism produces adverse weather conditions, in this case, on Cuba, written by various professors from the University of Havana, and tourism employment by Ana Belén Fernández Casado.
Both the director of the School, Manuela Lopez Tenes, as the Vice Chancellor for Research, Juan María Vázquez, the presentation highlighted the importance of research activity up in a highly competitive sector such as tourism, with a public increasingly demanding.
