The streets of the city of Murcia will host next Saturday, February 10, the arrival of the 38th edition of the Tour of the Region of Murcia Grand Prix Banco Sabadell.
The appointment, which has been presented this morning in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, has the fundamental support of the City of Murcia.
The race will start this year from the municipality of Beniel and will have two flying goals in Cieza and Alcantarilla, and three highs that will serve to toughen and select the race.
The first of these is the Alto de Cieza, third category, later they will climb the Alto de la Zarzadilla, 2nd category, to finish with the Collado Bermejo, first, and that will serve to award the Marco Pantani Trophy, with which remember the deceased Italian runner.
The Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, was present at the event, highlighting "the importance for Murcia of being able to be the final stage of a test marked in the calendar of the best teams and the most outstanding cyclists and with a attractive route that will make cycling lovers enjoy ".
As for the presence of runners highlight the Murcia Alejandro Valverde, José Joaquín Rojas, Rubén Fernández and Luis León Sánchez who will seek victory before their public.
To these must be added cyclists of the likes of Tony Martin (four times world champion against the clock), Philippe Gilbert, Jacob Fuglsang, Rein Taaramae, Bob Jungles, Zdenek Stybar or Roman Kreuziger.
On the other hand, there are many teams that have already confirmed their presence in Murcia.
Six of them belong to the top category, UCI World Tour, such as Movistar Team, Astana Pro Team, Bora Hangrohe, Mitchelton Scott, Quick Step or Katusha.
To these will be added squads such as Cofidis, Direct Energie, Wanty, Euskadi Murias, Burgos BH, Team Euskadi, Gazprom Rusvelo, Sport Vlaanderen Baloise, Rally Cycling and Vellanda's Willems.
This means that Murcia will count on February 10 with representation from 5 continents and 22 countries, which gives proof of a relevant global impact.
Added to this is the presence of winning riders in the big three, Vuelta a España, Giro d'Italia and Tour de France, as well as world-class races such as the Tour of Flanders, Tour of Switzerland, Dauphiné, Paris Nice, Flecha Valona, Tour of Lombardy, Liège Bastiña Liège or Amstel Gold Race.
