The event counted for the third time, with the participation of the Symphony Orchestra of the Catholic University of Murcia
The National Music Auditorium in Madrid hosted yesterday afternoon the XVIII Great New Year Zarzuela Gala.
The public that packed the venue enjoyed more than 20 pieces of great masters.
The Catholic University of Murcia that participated for the third time in this concert, through its Symphony Orchestra, directed by Maestro Borja Quintas, put our most international music, zarzuela, to value.
The concert began with El Baile de Luis Alonso by G. Jiménez accompanying the zarzuela print ballet directed by Sofía Martín.
Martín gave color to other fragments such as the Barberillo de Lavapiés or La Montería.
Manuel Lanza gave abundant samples of why he is considered one of the best Spanish baritones, superb in two of his interventions both in his role as Juan in Los Gavilanes and in his duo of Bunch of Roses with Cristina Faus.
The soprano Cristina Toledo was splendid, with an impeccable diction and an extraordinary phrasing.
His warm timbre of voice immediately empathized with the audience.
Later came the intervention of Enrique Ferrer, who phrased with elegance and drew a loud ovation from the audience, as did the duo of La Dolora with Cristina Faus, who debuted with the UCAM Symphony Orchestra.
His pasacalle of the Mantillas put the standing up to the respectable starting one of the great ovations of the night.
The UCAM Symphony was accompanied by the choir of the Polytechnic University of Madrid that was brilliant in all its interventions.
The applause of the audience, which provoked the four later encores ending the gala with Canto a Murcia de la Parranda.
Among those attending the event were personalities such as the president of the Catholic University of Murcia, José Luis Mendoza, accompanied by his wife, María Dolores García, the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, the chaplain of the UCAM, Luis Emilio Pascual and Dr. Pedro Guillén, director of the Chair of Traumatology of Sports of the UCAM.
