The Municipal Socialist Group has filed this morning a complaint to the Nature Protection Service of the Civil Guard (Seprona) for the "damage caused in the river bed by the machine responsible for removing the reeds," as explained by the councilor Enrique Ayuso.
For his part, the socialist senator Francisco Onate has indicated that he has presented three initiatives in the Upper Chamber to request the appearance of the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), another to demand the urgent repair of the ashlars erected thirteen months ago. the Contraparada and that are from the Arab period and an oral question to the Minister of the Environment.
In this regard, he warned that "the CHS despises the Contraparada, one of the best enclaves that has in the river" and pointed out that "yesterday I was in Fitur and there are municipalities selling as tourist attraction landscapes and spaces of worse quality than the Contraparada "
After a visit to the area, from the Contraparada following the course of the river, Ayuso has verified that the excavator machine, of great tonnage, was cleaning the canes "with a very aggressive method and different from the one applied in previous occasions" and has added that "This caterpillar machine works in the same channel of the river where you can see traces in the bed itself".
The councilor has pointed out that the method used by the CHS "is so aggressive that it affects the native flora and fauna", especially the otters and birds that live around the riverbed, as well as that it considers an unnecessary risk that the method of eliminating Reeds consist of leaving them compacted in the same river.
Therefore, has reported that not only has filed a complaint with the Seprona, but will defend a motion in the Plenary which requires that "the City is taken seriously the River Segura", since, as explained by the mayor pedáneo of Javalí Viejo, José Francisco Navarro, "the PP can not present projects like Murcia River to defend the garden if we kill the Segura".
