The mayor of Murcia, Jos Ballesta, the Minister of Public Works, Íigo de la Serna, and Renfe's president, Juan Alfaro Grande, today signed in Fitur the agreement for the tourist promotion of the municipality of Murcia through rail services, which It establishes discounts of up to 35% on the price of the ticket, lowering its cost to those tourists who arrive in the city by train.
The capital of the region signed this agreement with nine other municipalities, entities and institutions throughout Spain: consistories of Santander, Zaragoza, Salamanca, Orense, Palencia, Avila, Valladolid, the municipal tourism company of Santiago (Incolsa), the deputation of Orense and Tourism Galicia.
"This is a specific agreement for the municipality of Murcia, in the sense that Renfe will offer a series of benefits to all passengers with origin and destination in the city of Murcia that use the rail services.

The agreement in Murcia especially benefits the congress sector, where 26% of people who come to the capital of Segura do it by train.
It is estimated that some 20,000 visitors in this sector can benefit from these discounts of 35%, assuming for them a savings of more than 600,000 euros.
Competitiveness of train ticket price
The mayor said that "with this agreement Murcia is progressing in its consolidation as a tourist destination of the Spanish Mediterranean, placing itself in the same line as other major Spanish capitals in terms of the competitiveness of the price of the train ticket, a means of transport that has an important Specific weight in the arrival of national tourists to our municipality, which represent 81% of the total visitors.
Also, the agreement of the City Council with Renfe provides discounts of 25% to those visitors who come to Murcia through the packages generated by Murcia Tourism and offers tourists who come through these packs, that the groups are considered from 10 people and not 25 as usual, thus applying better discounts.
The agreement also lays the foundations for future actions that will jointly be carried out for the promotion of the Murcia-Madrid high-speed line, such as familiarization trips with journalists and travel agents, projection of promotional videos of the city in the trains and custom seat headers.
