Huermur has asked the Murcia City Council for access to archaeological reports and files on the findings, as well as to clarify what the intentions of the Consistory on the remains.
The conservationist association urges the Ministry of Culture to rule on to be able to know with certainty the extent of the remains that have appeared in the street of the Arab baths and within the precincts of the historic area of ​​Murcia, declared BIC.
The entity also asks the City Council and Mayor Ballesta to desist from installing underground trash containers on this street, something that would destroy the remains and a part of the historical heritage of Murcia.
The Association for the Conservation of the Garden and the Heritage of Murcia (HUERMUR) has requested the Murcia City Council all the information about the archaeological remains that have been found in Madre de Dios street in the heart of the city.
A street known for being the place where the historic Arab baths were located, which were razed one early morning in 1952 to build the Gran Vía.
Similarly Huermur urges the Ministry of Culture to report on these vestiges to know more safely what is the scope of what appeared and also if they have some kind of relationship with the Arab baths of the Gran Vía. In this regard from Huermur states that the remains are located within the precincts of the historic artistic group of the city of Murcia, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC).
Similarly, from the Huemur association asked the City Council and Mayor Ballesta to desist from the project to install on Madre de Dios street huge underground containers of garbage, an installation that would destroy what was found and another part of the heritage and history of Murcia.
Finally, the conservationist group points out that in the month of November some works were started next to the Gran Vía and about 30 meters from the remains found now, also for the installation of underground containers, so Huermur asked the City Council for information in this respect, but mysteriously the works ceased with the trench quite deep, and the great hole was covered overnight, indicate from Huermur.
To this day they still expect the Murcian Consistory to give them an explanation of this cessation, why the ditch was closed next to the Gran Vía and if any archaeological remains appeared.
