The Department of Development, through Ferrovial Services, has collected a total of 105,600 kilos, between paper and cardboard, on 5, 6, 7 and 8 January.
In order to carry out this special action, one more year, an extraordinary cleaning service was established consisting of reinforcing the regular paper and cardboard collection service.
It has also been complemented with two collection routes that included six additional trucks and ten operators who have manually collected cardboard and paper from the gift wrappings mostly.
The cleaning teams were also reinforced after the parade of kings in which several teams of workers and various vehicles of Ferrovial Services immediately cleaned the streets of the center once the ride had finished.
Between Sunday night and Monday, 45,400 kilos of paper and cardboard have been collected, but the special service continues until Wednesday morning.
These figures represent 10% more than what was collected on the same dates last year
Regarding the cleaning of the public road, the special device designed for these dates is continued and the intensive cleaning plan has already begun, in those places where the most concentration of events and the influx of citizens has taken place during these dates.
So yesterday these works were made in La Glorieta de España, where the Christmas market was installed, which will continue until next January 20 in the following order of action: Trapería and adjacent, Santo Domingo-Calle Basabé (with Santa's house ), the commercial area of ​​Avenida Libertad, Plaza Circular (with the large Christmas tree), Alfonso XPérez Casas (handicraft market), Alfonso X-Plaza Preciosa, Artillery Barracks (merchants' Christmas fair), ending in the Plaza of La Merced.
The councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, explained that "these areas have been chosen because they have the greatest number of people and in which more activities have been developed".
Ortiz thanked "Murcia merchants for their work in decorating the city during these dates and their collaboration in the paper and cardboard collection system that has allowed the city to show a good image during the Christmas period."
The special device is composed of five operators with three pressure washers, a scrubber plus special gum cleaning and degreasing.
This will proceed to the thorough cleaning of pavements, remains of the removal of carpet and all the dirt that may have as a result of the intensive use that these areas have had these days
