Huermur has asked the Ministry of Culture to expand the protection environment for this monument, one of the few remaining civil in Murcia.
Likewise Huermur has requested the immediate return of the set of canvases of the author Vicente English of the 18th century to his place of origin in the IES Cascales de Murcia, since they are currently displaced and decontextualized.
The Association has also urged Culture to complete once and for all the procedures for the definitive declaration of the Cascales Institute as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), and warns of the expiration dates of the file and the possible responsibilities if it should arrive expire
The Association for the Conservation of the Garden and the Heritage of Murcia (HUERMUR) has presented a battery of measures before the Ministry of Culture of the Region of Murcia to increase the protection of the former College of Theologians of San Isidro (now Francisco Cascales Institute) whose origins date back to the eighteenth century.
In this way and within the process of allegations granted to Huermur, as a person and interested party in the procedure for the declaration of IES Cascales as an asset of Cultural Interest, the conservationist association has asked Culture to expand the rickety environment of protection that had proposed for the initiation of the BIC, since in the opinion of Huermur it would be insufficient, inadequate and would not guarantee the good contemplation of the monument in some areas, which is why Huermur has provided a greater environment and that would ensure the due protection of the BIC.
Huermur has also requested that the Ministry of Culture arbitrate the necessary measures to carry out the return to the Cascades of the pictorial collection of Vicente English, dated in the eighteenth century, as this is their place of origin and form an integral part of the historic building.
Today they are displaced and decontextualized in the IES Alfonso X on Avenida Juan de Borbón.
All this as indicated by the opening of the BIC published in the BORM and even by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Santa María de la Arrixaca de Murcia in a report included in the file.
Huermur has also requested the return of all those movables that have been transferred from the Old College of Theologians of San Isidro and that are part of it, for which he has indicated to the Ministry of Culture known cases in the rest of Spain that could be similar, as for example the case of the transfer of the works of Sijena to their place of origin in Aragon, the conflict of ecclesiastical property of the Strip, or the sculptures of the Portico de la Gloria.
In reference to the interior of the IES Francisco Cascales, such as its central courtyard in brick and semicircular arches between Tuscan pilasters, the upper floors, the main staircase in marble with wood balustraded balustrade and tile base, as the corridors and arches of ground floor, and mainly the hall, which responds to the reform made in 1906 for this use in the old chapel of the College of Theologians solved with eclectic decorative language, retains the distribution of side chapels that open to the hall by means of arches of half point, emphasizing, also, the decoration of the false ceiling by way of coffered ceiling, reason why Huermur has requested a special protection of the same ones to assure thus its effective conservation and protection.
Finally Huermur has urged the Ministry of Culture to resolve once and for all the file for the declaration of the Old College of Theologians of San Isidro in Murcia (Actual IES Cascales) as an Asset of Cultural Interest with the category of monument, warning also of the expiration time of the procedure, the need to resolve it and the possible responsibilities if it should expire.
All this for Murcia to have properly protected one of the few remaining civil monuments of the eighteenth century.
