The City of Murcia and the NGO SED promote a project in the municipality of Comarapa, Bolivia, with the aim of guaranteeing the full right to education by improving educational facilities.
The aid granted amounts to € 2,355.41 and was approved in the annual call for the realization of cooperation projects in less developed countries and awareness in the municipality of Murcia.
The intervention counts as a local partner with the Marist School of Comarapa, managed by the Marist Brothers of Bolivia.
Councilor Rebeca Pérez, responsible for the area of ​​Youth and Development Cooperation, explains that 'investing in education is a key tool in any strategy to fight poverty'.
The collaboration of the City Council will improve the quality of life of students with the change of desks, which is a demand of students for a long time.
These classrooms welcome 1,241 students each year who benefit from an education of primary, secondary and vocational training in agriculture, while, on the other hand, 150 students annually study an occupational training in business administration, industrial mechanics, industrial electricity and image and sound .
In such a way that the aid granted will have 1,391 direct and indirect beneficiaries.
Specifically, it benefits 70 students each year with the possibility of using the 34 desks made by 150 students of occupational training.
The furniture is a real support to the pedagogical activity, since it must comply with certain design concepts.
On the one hand, they must favor the performance of the student population, reducing the risk of physical fatigue and the deterioration of the students' health, on the other hand, it must be functional, so that it can respond to the variety of demands of organization of the student. teaching and learning process that the teaching team plans in educational spaces.
Due to the lack of facilities, primary school students and vocational training attend classes in the afternoon and in the morning.
The result is that students improve their school performance.
The project has the added value of participating in the manufacturing process of the Higher Technical Institute of Nuestra Señora del Pilar, where professionals in business administration, industrial mechanics, industrial electricity and image and sound are trained.
In a free boarding regime, young people from rural communities far from the east and west of Bolivia attend and do not have the prospects of continuing professionalization studies.
The beneficiary population directly in terms of the production part would be 220 people.
SED is a Non-Governmental Organization for Development, at the state level, which works mainly promoting the right to education in Africa and Latin America, as well as in some countries in Asia and Europe.
