The councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, held this morning a working meeting with representatives of the IH Architects studio, winner of the rehabilitation contest of the Old Prison, and municipal technicians to advance the project of putting value on this property.
Thus, the City Council has begun the procedures to hire the winning team of the Old Prison competition that will have to submit, within five months, the final project in order to begin its tender.
The councilor for Development, Roque Ortiz, explained that "the draft 'Ethereal Walls' will adapt to the socio-cultural program developed by the City Council and will be a reality soon."
The City Council will also create a Committee of Cultural Experts to design the future management of the complex, which should have as main objectives that the Old Prison becomes a socio-cultural reference at the regional level.
Likewise, a Municipal Supervisory Team will be set up, which will coordinate the work of the Drafting Team, as well as the direction of the works and the definition of the pedestrian adaptation of the building's surroundings.
The rehabilitation works of the Old Prison are duly financed, so the works will begin next year.
