On Friday, December 15 at 12 o'clock, in the Hall of Degrees of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Murcia, will be the presentation of the book "Let the Skin to change skin: The Leather and its culture through of History "by Juan Pérez Gil.
In the presentation will intervene, in addition to the author: José Mª Abellán, Vice Chancellor of Economy, Sustainability and Health Sciences, and Samuel Baixauli Soler, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the UMU.
Juan Pérez Gil has been President of the Spanish Council of Tanners;
Founder and President of the Regional Confederation of Employers of Lorca (CECLOR), and President of the Spanish Association for the Skin Trade, among others.
He is currently a member of the Social Council and Government Council of the University of Murcia.
He has published more than 280 publications related to the leather and tanning industry.
The book that is presented now is a journey through the history of a trade that had special economic relevance in the Vega del Guadalentín and more specifically in Lorca.
The beginning of the publication goes back to the dawn of civilization, with the first manual tanning of the skin, where it was a purely artisan activity, until now, turned into an industrial activity.
