The Carnival Association will continue to vindicate the weight of this party in our Region since the new year will celebrate 140 years of existence proclaiming itself as the oldest carnival celebrations of the Region of Murcia
The Cabezo de Torres Carnival Association chose yesterday its new Board of Directors in which Fran Sánchez renews as president of the entity.
The new list chosen by acclamation will guide the carnival organizing activities until the year 2021. The main challenge will be obtaining the National Tourist Interest, since the festival was declared of regional tourist interest more than 20 years ago.
It all started in 1878 when the few neighbors who made up the town went out to the street wearing masks dressed in old clothes or the opposite sex to play jokes with each other hidden under the anonymity provided by the outfits.
The new team consists of Gonzalo Sánchez, Susana, Ruben Megías, Lorena Abellán, Alicia Valverde, Juan Francisco Roda, Luís Sánchez, Pablo Belmonte and Marta Giménez.
From the Cabezo de Torres Carnival Association they will continue to vindicate the importance of these celebrations, since in 2018 carnival parades will be 140 years old.
The celebrations of the Cabezo de Torres Carnival are, therefore, the oldest carnival festival documented in the Region of Murcia.
The new Board of Directors will continue with the national projection of the party, already started four years ago, among those who have highlighted multitudinous events such as the Holi Run color race that brings together more than 17,000 people, the conservation of the six parades that are celebrated through the streets of Cabezo de Torres or the national image of the preacher of the Carnival that gives greater popularity to carnival celebrations.
The Board of Directors considers among its priorities to continue promoting the positive image of the party as a place of meeting and entertainment and improving the infrastructure for street parades.
The Carnival Association highlights among its priorities the creation of the Carnival Museum in the Center Multipurpose of the district, which at the same time, serve as the permanent headquarters of the Association.
For the President of the Association Fran Sánchez, "this new stage in the carnival will contribute to continue improving and being a center of attraction for tourists."
Sanchez says, "I'm more excited than four years ago because the work has gone as we all wanted and we have provided the new impetus that our carnival needed."
Likewise, the president appreciates the work and dedication of all the carnival groups, as well as the people who have been part of the Board of Directors.
