The Plenary of the City Council held today has agreed to the award of honors and honors of the year 2018. With regard to Angel Belmonte, the City of Murcia recognizes its connection and selfless collaboration in the celebrations of the municipality and its impetus in the Christmas celebrations around the figure of Santa Claus, which has represented for years.
He has also collaborated with the Federation of Moors and Christians, contributing material and playing the role of Ambassador Moro, in addition to having been founder of the Kábila Ibn-Arabien 1983. The proposal has been presented by the Popular, Socialist, Citizens and Francisco Javier groups Trigueros.
Also, and after unanimously approved by the Corporation, the City Council will recognize next year the link between cyclist Alejandro Valverde and the municipality of Murcia, where he was born on April 25, 1980. Born in 1929 in the popular street of San Antonio, since he painted his first oil painting in 1945, he has been an ambassador of his land, which he has masterfully reproduced in oils and watercolors, which has placed him as one of Murcia's artists most recognized of the XX and XXI century.
At the proposal of the groups Popular, Socialist, Citizens and the not attached mayor, Francisco Javier Trigueros, the Brotherhood of Slaves of Our Father Jesus of the Rescue and Mary Most Holy of Hope will receive the Gold Medal of the City in recognition of their religious bond , historical and cultural with the municipality of Murcia.
The Brotherhood, which runs every Holy Tuesday, was founded in 1941, date from which it has actively contributed to the splendor of Holy Week in Murcia, declared of International Tourist Interest.
In addition, its work in the maintenance of the cult and conservation of its owners is praiseworthy, one of the most important artistic works of our Region.
