José Ballesta: "We need a new Renaissance, to return to the values ​​we should never have lost" (28/11/2017)

The Mayor of Murcia opens the Futuro en Español international forum at the Palacio Almudí, with the presence of top-level intellectuals, diplomats, writers, academics and journalists, both from Latin America and from our country.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, today inaugurated at the Palacio Almudí the 'Future in Spanish' conference organized by Vocento, the most relevant business and cultural exchange forum on the Spanish-speaking world, which hosts the city of Murcia for the first time, and which has counted with the presence of intellectuals, diplomats, writers, academics and top-level journalists, both from Latin America and from our country.

In the presentation moderated by the Costa Rican ambassador in Spain, Doris Osterlof, in which the mayor participated along with the rector of the EAFIT University and former Minister of Culture of Colombia, Juan Luis Mejía, and the director of the Royal Spanish Academy of the language, Darío Villanueva, the mayor of Murcia said that "education and, above all, authentic teachers are more necessary than ever" and argued that "science and culture are the best inheritance that adult generations can offer the young people and the greatest wealth that a nation can generate ".

José Ballesta stressed that "progress is made with education, and only with education" and advocated a new Renaissance in which "teachers, first of all and after all, have made humanism a way of living and thinking, a lifestyle, since with education we play for equality and our freedom ".
