The mayor of Citizens Paqui Perez will defend a motion in the plenary on Thursday demanding the local government the implementation, as a matter of urgency, of an accessibility plan for the municipal centers of neighborhoods and districts that conforms to current regulations.
"Just by walking through our neighborhoods and districts and access to their municipal centers (El Puntal, La Alberca, El Palmar, Northern District, Llano de Brujas, among others) can give us that universal and effective accessibility is a pending issue and that the City Council has done little to advance in this matter ", pointed out Paqui Pérez.
In this regard, the orange councilor has pointed out that "it is not just that the City Council develops a municipal plan or an ordinance, pending development, but something much more ambitious, as accessibility becomes a requirement and a priority condition of its management ".
For the mayor of Citizens, "it is essential that the local government gives priority to one investment over another and proceeds to the elimination of barriers and obstacles that limit the autonomy and well-being of people."
Especially taking into account, he stressed, that next December 4 is the deadline established for the enforceability of the basic conditions of accessibility and non-discrimination as established by current regulations.
"From Citizens understand that the City must urgently take all that establishes this regulation, especially in regard to basic and vital aspects such as the adequacy of municipal buildings to the conditions of universal accessibility", has ended.
