On Wednesday November 29, the Faculty of Letters of the University of Murcia joins the celebration of the V International Day of Ladino and Sephardic communities scattered around the world.
The act will be held in the Hemicycle of the said Faculty (Campus de la Merced), starting at 10'15 o'clock, with the lecture and recital "Sones Sephardic: diversity made letter and music", by Liliana Benveniste, singer, compositor and professor argentina, coordinator of the Raíces Cycle of Sefarad and editor of eSefarad-Noticias del Mundo Sefaradí.
The Sephardim were distinguished in 1990 with the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord.
In the minutes, the jury expressed the following: "Far from their land, the Sephardim became an itinerant Spain, which has preserved with unparalleled zeal the cultural and linguistic legacy of their ancestors."
The event is organized by Professor Juana Castaño Ruiz, Department of French, Romance, Italian and Arabic Philology.
