NOW MURCIA claims for the Paseo del Malecón a rehabilitation that will take you out of its "filthy and abandoned aspect", inadmissible in a patrimonial element that is one of the most beloved of all Murcia and represents one of the hallmarks of the municipality.
The training reminds that this BIC is municipal property, so it corresponds to the City Council its maintenance and possible rehabilitation, which is precisely the action that Murcia now considers "very necessary" to carry out, so it will take this demand to the next Plenary .
Now Murcia regrets that this important monument presents "a worrying state of preservation in all its extension, from its entrance through the Plano de San Francisco, in the city, to the statue in honor of D. José María Muñoz".
Angeles Micol highlights "the terrible state of the walls of the walk, full of cracks, sinking, chipping, dirt and paint", as well as the "huge breaks caused at some points by the railings."
The councilor highlights "the shameful aspect" that presents the historic door of the Garden of the Cypresses, "which requires an urgent restoration that gives it a dignified appearance."
"We demand a rehabilitation, but that does not fall into the waste that the municipal PP has us used in. The projects and the renovations can be done rationally and without spending the money of all Murcia's hands," says Micol, that remembers the expensive pedestrianization project of Ballesta for half of the ride Alfonso X and also points to the Murcia River project: "Ballesta makes promises of megaprojects when the first thing he should do is to prevent the heritage we have from falling into pieces. attitude of 'new rich' and very little respectful of our heritage and our history, it is irresponsible and inadmissible behavior ".
The councilor highlights the important role of the Paseo del Malecón "as a link between the city of Murcia and the Huerta," and is "one of the main spaces of the municipality for walking and leisure, being frequented by many residents of the city and the nearby districts, as well as many of those who visit our municipality. "
This important walk was declared a historic-artistic monument by Royal Decree 1396/1982, of April 30, and it is considered as a Cultural Interest Property (BIC), with a monument category, in accordance with the first transitory provision of Law 4 / 2007, of March 16, of Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
With regard to the legal protection held by the BIC of Paseo del Malecón, it is worth remembering the conservation and effective protection duties that the cultural heritage regulations impose on the owners of BIC, and that are included in article 8.1 of Law 4/2007 of Cultural Heritage of the Region of Murcia, which stipulates that "The owners, holders and other holders of real rights over cultural assets must comply with the following obligations: a) Preserve, guard and protect them to ensure their integrity and prevent their destruction or deterioration. (…)".
"After reading this, it is clear that the Consistory, owner of the Paseo del Malecón monument, will carry out the necessary tasks and actions to repair the damage it presents," says the councilor of Ahora Murcia, "and to get the image it deserves to shine, without having to resort to big costs".
Micol points out that the City Council, according to the law, must submit the corresponding applications and projects in the General Directorate of Cultural Assets of the Autonomous Community, as well as the mandatory reports of this autonomous department.
