The City of Murcia, through the Social Welfare Service of the Department of Social Rights, and especially the Women's Section, has added two new housing for housing for women and their children that need protection and specialized care so require it.
"These resources are integrated into the Regional and National network of attention to victims of gender violence, so that women from the municipality of Murcia and from other municipalities in the region or from other autonomous communities can be accommodated there, because of their needs of protection are derived to our municipality ", explained Councilor Conchita Ruiz.
These new accommodations have been equipped with all the infrastructure, equipment and equipment necessary to make them a comfortable and safe home that meets all the needs of women and children making their stay there as enriching as possible for their lives, constituting an improvement considerable in the facilities of the municipality of Murcia in attention to women victims of gender violence.
In this way, with the integral attention provided in these lodgings to women victims of gender violence and their sons and daughters, an accompaniment is pursued that allows them to embark on a new path that will recover them and enable them to resume their lives without violence.
"It should be noted that specialized care requires a prolonged process in time in which several phases occur, such as reception / adaptation, care in different areas, preparation for the exit or exit-follow-up and that this process is a major challenge for women and their children, since at the same time that they are freed from the violence they experience, they have to face and overcome the uprooting that comes from abandoning their previous life, their environment, their home, friends and family, etc., and to undertake a new life "added the councilor.
The intervention carried out, in addition to ensuring the protection and recovery of the aftermath of the violence experienced, is aimed at achieving the emotional, social and economic independence of the aggressor, training women with the skills and tools that will allow them to develop a autonomous life
This process is carried out in a personalized way, adapting the resources and interventions to the needs of each woman and her family, so that having several shelter equipment allows to lengthen the time of intervention to favor recovery and ensure full social integration .
It is necessary to remember that at the moment the service of integral attention to situations of gender violence is provided, counting for it with a multiprofessional team specialized in these interventions, coordinated by the head of section and integrated by a psychologist, a legal adviser, four social educators and a part-time social worker.
At present, there are four accommodations for victims of gender violence that suppose a total of 26 places for women who go through this problem and the minors who accompany them.
