The Prize to the Solidarity Anonymous, in its XVIII Edition, will be granted to María José Funes Meseguer, a neighbor of the Murcian hamlet of Guadalupe, characterized by its extensive trajectory of voluntary dedication to the most needy people, especially in the sanitary field.
The Award Award Ceremony will take place in the Hemicycle of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Murcia, on December 13.
The winner will receive a sculpture by Antonio Campillo, donated by the Antonio Campillo Foundation.
Likewise, a reminder of his career as a socially involved person will be carried out.
The candidacy was presented by the North Murcia Volunteer Office, dependent on the Department of Social Rights of the City of Murcia.
The same was valued, along with the rest of the candidatures presented, in the meeting of the Jury that took place on November 15, in which the members of the same highlighted as worthy of the Award.
María José Funes Meseguer, 56, has been volunteering since 1999, the year she began to collaborate with the Asociación Murcia Acoge, in which she continues today, lending support in the psychosocial area.
It also coordinates the projects of apartments of reception of convalescent patients of this association, action that develops since 2001.
It should be noted that their voluntary action is not developed only in this association, since María José is a person who has internalized the solidarity in their lifestyle, offering to perform any work that is necessary and being a very important support for residents in the shelters that she coordinates.
The Anonymous Solidarity Prize aims to recognize precisely this way of life, solidarity, humanitarian and disinterested activity carried out regularly by individuals and that to date, as in the case of María José, have not received public recognition for your work
It is organized by the Faculty of Social Work of the University of Murcia and the Volunteer Platform of the Region of Murcia, with the collaboration of the City of Murcia, the Antonio Campillo Foundation and the Cajamurcia Foundation.
