The spokesman for Citizens, Mario Gomez, has asked the mayor of Murcia and President of Emuasa, José Ballesta;
and the manager of the municipal water company, José Albaladejo, to include in the next meeting of the Board of Directors, among other matters, the presentation of a new proposal to lower the water rate.
"From Cs we want to reduce the tax burden to Murcia, and therefore we can not allow Murcia to remain at the head of the municipalities with the most expensive water in Spain," said Gomez, who recalled that "it is one of the measures that we have defended since we arrived at the City Council, the last time was last Friday during the Debate of the State of the municipality.
Apart from speculation
"The water supply service is a commodity and must be satisfied at a fair price that is out of all business speculation," he said.
Likewise, Gomez has insisted on the need for "Emuasa to cover the costs of the service and not take advantage of its monopoly situation to obtain unfair benefits and allocate them to cover other costs unrelated to the maintenance of municipal facilities."
Thus, the orange spokesman reminded the mayor that "the City has the obligation to monitor this public service so that the price of water is adapted to the costs of supply and maintenance, but never to get benefit from a basic service."
"It is essential that water rates are reduced, without this meaning a loss of service quality;
and that a good management of the water company is carried out, "he concluded.
