The Councilor for Education, Rafael Gómez, presented this morning the activities of the "Reading Street" campaign whose objective is to disseminate the activities and services of the Municipal Network of Libraries of Murcia among the citizens of the municipality of Murcia.
"There are many and varied activities that our libraries offer throughout the course, as well as programming for minors, young people and adults, and a complete network of literary or audiovisual material at your fingertips. effort and reach those who are unaware of the possibilities offered by the City of Murcia, "explained the head of Education.
To this end, a series of selected initiatives have been prepared among those carried out routinely in the 17 libraries of the RMBM.
Some actions that will take place next Saturday, November 25, at Basabe Street (Santo Domingo) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
It is a pioneering initiative that will be repeated in the coming months in different locations in the city and its districts.
There will be installed three tents with 50 chairs and numerous shelves with books so that anyone who is in the area can enjoy literature outdoors and free of charge.
There will also be five tables for chess fans and a stage where various performances or performances with puppets will be held.
The planned activities are the following:
- 10.00 h .: Introduction to chess course
- 10.30 h .: Puppet Show "The Recyclers"
- 12.00 h .: "Made at home" with La Mandarina
- 13.00 h .: Puppet Show "Los Reicladores"
In addition to the activities, an information point will be enabled in the case of Santo Domingo to get all the activities and services of the Municipal Library Network of Murcia among the citizens of the municipality of Murcia.
In this booth the inscriptions must be made for the literary-historical tour of 12:00 hours.
The route will start at the Santo Domingo square, where the history of the surroundings, its palaces and the Dominican order will be explained, and will continue through the nearby Piazza del Romea, where attention will be paid to the historic theater and its black legend and other outstanding buildings .
In this tour, participants will also know the importance of the silk industry for the development of the city, the history of the most illustrious names and their most recognized members and various legends that still remain in the city, as is the case of Callejón del Cabrito, the chain of the Los Vélez chapel and its skeleton and the flight of the devil over the tower of the Cathedral.
