Terra Natura Murcia takes another step to consolidate itself as a point of reference for the white stork.
The park has placed, in different points of its facilities, three structures of 8 meters high and 1.20 meters in diameter with the aim that they can be used by this species to create their own nests.
The upper part has been lined with burlap cloth to better suit your needs.
Since 2012, Terra Natura has a stable relationship with a couple of storks that chose their facilities within their migration processes attracted by the water and food sources that account for this space, as well as the presence of other animals.
Last year they played an important milestone, since they raised 4 chicks, which was the first case of reproduction of this species successfully in the Region of Murcia in more than 40 years, which is the first step to recolonize a place in which the species disappeared half a century ago.
Currently, two more couples have joined, although in specific times they have been counted up to 11 copies at a time.
"With this measure we want to provide spaces where they can build their own nests and where they do not find any interference so that they develop naturally, since we know that Terra Natura is a place that attracts, more and more, storks ", explained Manuel Gonzálvez, head of the park's animals.
These structures will remain permanently in the park and have been installed within an in situ conservation project of the white stork developed by Terra Natura Murcia.
