Felipe Coello, Councilor of Sports and Health, has presented the plan of action before a medical emergency in diabetic patients during the practice of physical exercise to celebrate the World Diabetes Day.
In collaboration with ADIRMU (Murcia Association for the Care of Diabetes), the City of Murcia has convened a training course on diabetes called 'Plan of action before a medical emergency in people with diabetes mellitus, during the practice of physical exercise in sports facilities municipal.
The sports facilities that have personnel that have attended this course will be equipped with a kit glucomer to have it in case necessary and act according to the knowledge acquired during the training and will be distinguished with a logo.
Currently there are protocols for action before a situation of hypoglycemia, one of the key pieces is the use of glucometers, medical devices that allow the measurement of capillary blood glucose concentration with the possibility of obtaining results in a very short of time.
This course will be taught on the mornings of November 27 and 29 with a total duration of 4 hours, from 12.00 and 14.00 hours and will be taught at the Palacio de los Deportes.

The main objective of this course is to train workers in municipal sports facilities in knowledge and skills that allow them to act correctly in a situation of medical emergency in people with diabetes Mellitus who perform exercise.
Coello encourages that "sports technicians and workers who are interested in the subject register for this course that will be very practical and dynamic to be held in the Palacio de los Deportes".
The Councilor for Sports and Health adds that "there are numerous studies that have shown that physical exercise or sports activity practiced regularly exert a preventive effect on diabetes.
This combined with an adequate diet is considered a fundamental pillar in the treatment of diabetes mellitus type 2 ".
