The person in charge of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz Caballero, has agreed to intensify the work in network with the entities that work in the care and reception of refugees, asylum seekers and in an irregular situation in the municipality of Murcia, in a meeting called to address the situation in which the municipality is located after the recent arrival of immigrants on board of boats to the Murcian coasts.
In recent weeks there have been two waves of boats to the coasts of the Region of Murcia, between 400 and 600 people on board, mostly from Algeria and Morocco, which are being served by entities that also work in the reception of refugees in the municipality such as Cruz Roja, ACCEM, Cepaim, Murcia Acoge.
Jesús Abandonado has also attended the meeting as a center of welcome, accommodation and maintenance of reference of Murcia.
"The main objective is to prevent these people who arrive in precarious conditions from being in a street situation", explained Conchita Ruiz, who pointed out that "many of them are in transit in Murcia and their final destination is France".
For this reason, it has been agreed that the Refugee Aid Office of the Department of Social Rights will coordinate regular work meetings between the three Social Services Centers with these NGOs in order to improve the care and integration of asylum seekers and shelter in the municipality.
Likewise, we will work on formulas to facilitate transit to your destination, providing the specific solution required by each case, providing means for travel, locating relatives or acquaintances in other cities or providing basic needs during which time. they must remain in the municipality.
