The Government Board has approved this morning the collaboration agreement with the Murcian Health Service for the development of actions related to the attention to drug addiction.
This project will consist in the execution of the Tobacco Care Program foreseen in the City Council's Municipal Drug Addiction Plan, as well as the financial support to associations and NGOs to carry out assistance and reintegration activities for drug addicts.
In addition, the Municipal Plan of Drugs of the City of Murcia of 1997 includes among its objectives the attention to drug addicts, with special emphasis on legal drugs (alcohol and tobacco), facilitate and enhance the creation of self-help groups and NGOs, as well as support to existing ones and encourage collaboration with institutions that deal with the assistance of drug addicts.
Among the programmatic principles of the successive Mental Health Plans of the Region of Murcia, along the same lines as the mental health strategy of the National Health System, are, on the one hand, the integration of activities of the different sectors and administrations and , on the other hand, the decentralization towards the Town Halls, Health Areas and other organized entities, as operative devices suitable to achieve a multiplying effect of the interventions, which guarantees the harmony with the sociocultural patterns of the community and the growing responsibility of said community in the actions developed.
