The University of Murcia (UMU) moves to the sixteenth edition of the Week of Science and Technology (SeCyT), which will take place on November 10,11 and 12 in the Botanical Garden of the Malecón, approximately one quarter of the This year's activities, in which approximately 400 activities of 57 institutions have been programmed.
As it has been doing since its first edition in 2001, the UMU will bring the science that is carried out in its different faculties through a wide program of activities with the aim of showing and bringing science closer to society, increasing scientific culture among the citizen and promote scientific vocations among the youngest.
Almost a hundred workshops that will be distributed by the 14 stands that will represent the UMU in this science festival.
Disciplines as different as chemistry, sociology, fine arts, economics, pharmacy, biology or medicine will transfer their knowledge to young and old, and will demonstrate the funniest face of science.
Among other things, attendees can create a cell, draw fat trapping, raise new issues through a trivial sociological, perform 3D animation characters or learn about genetics through a DNA made with candies.
These are just some of the bets that the UMU has for this weekend.
Parallel to the activities that will be developed in the Paseo del Malecón, the Research Support Service (SAI) of the UMU will offer guided tours during November 14 and 21 to learn about its facilities at the Espinardo Campus.
The SeCyT, which is held every year during the month of November throughout Europe, is organized in the Region of Murcia by the Seneca Foundation - Agency of Science and Technology.
Its objective is to teach the public, in the most attractive way, the current scientific reality in the hands of a great variety of researchers.
This year under the slogan 'An adventure called science' will occupy 13,500 meters of the Malecón garden.
On the part of the UMU, the participation in this event is materialized through the Scientific Culture Unit of the Vice-rectorate of Communication and Culture.
It is a further action within the commitment that the educational institution has for scientific dissemination.
