The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Murcia has been rated as the third best in Spain and the 36th in the world in the Academic Ranking of the Universities of the World (ARWU), the famous ranking of Shanghai, which qualifies the best universities every year of the planet.
Only the Autonomous Universities of Barcelona and Complutense de Madrid, in positions 9 and 19 respectively, precede him in this classification.
On the other hand, UMU Food Science and Technology studies have climbed to position 136 in "Food Science and Technology" of this rating.
Created in 2003, the ranking of Shanghai is considered the precursor of the classification of universities worldwide and one of the most prestigious.
ARWU uses six objective indicators to classify the universities of the world: number of students and professors who have won Nobel prizes and Fields medals, number of highly cited researchers, number of articles published in Nature and Science journals, number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index - Expanded (SCIE) and Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), and per capita performance with respect to the size of an institution.
AMRU qualifies more than 1,200 universities per year and the best 500 are published on the web.
