The councilman of Cambiemos Murcia Sergio Ramos has denounced today the "restrictions" that the person in charge of Modernization of the Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, José Guillén, imposes in what refers to the participation of the associations of neighbors in the municipal boards of neighborhoods and districts.
Ramos has pointed out that, although the Municipal Participation Regulations of the City Council recognize these associations as part of the meetings for all purposes except in the exercise of the vote, the reality is that the government team, "making a restrictive interpretation "of this document," does not allow them to submit motions or receive information. "
One of the consequences of this attitude, the mayor has argued, is that proposals that start directly from neighbors and neighbors "are not voted" and, therefore, compliance is not mandatory, so that the only option that it remains is to offer them to the vocal of a political formation.
The municipal training recalled that "historically" residents associations have been allowed to present motions, so "these restrictions of the PP are not understood now, if they are not to restrict the debate in the municipal boards of change".
Modification of the Regulation of Citizen Participation
Ramos has also denounced the "systematic breach" of the motions that have to do with the reform of the Regulation of Citizen Participation approved in the Plenary Session of the City Council.
"After two years of municipal government, not only has not the modification begun, but the opposition is also long when it raises this issue."
In this sense, he made reference to the "last absurdity" of Guillén when last month he called on the municipal groups to take the first steps in the reform of the Regulation but suspended the meeting "claiming that it would change the format of it" , and it has not been reconvened.
"Guillen is laughing at those of us who want to make municipal councils a more participatory and efficient space for citizens," concluded Ramos.
