The Governing Board is committed to involving all sectors of the agri-food system in structuring a sustainable agroecological chain between La Huerta and the surrounding urban centers. Among the objectives that are pursued include the creation of a network of Green Restaurants and the generation of new production, marketing and consumption channels
The Department of Urban Planning, Environment and Garden has obtained the approval of the Governing Board for the adhesion to the project 'Weaving Networks', promoted by the "Weaving Network Association".
The initiative is integrated into the strategies foreseen in the Plan of Action of the Huerta de Murcia for the revitalization and promotion of agricultural activity, as well as the environment, the landscape, the irrigation network, the cultural heritage and the environment in general .
As explained by councilor Antonio Navarro, "within the planned actions is the promotion of studies, projects and work aimed at promoting peri-urban agriculture in the territory of the Huerta de Murcia with initiatives to encourage and make viable economically the organic production sector as one of the real possibilities of conservation and recovery of the Huerta, creating the guidelines to structure a sustainable agroecological agrifood chain between the Huerta de Murcia and the adjacent urban centers ".
