Three exhibitions give the kick-off to the III International Congress of Brotherhoods and Fraternities (02/11/2017)

This morning three of the four exhibitions that are part of the III International Congress of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods have been inaugurated, that under the title 'Saved by the Cross of Christ' they organize the Catholic University of Murcia and the Real and Most Illustrious High Council of Brotherhoods of Murcia.

All of them are open to the public in various places in Murcia until next November 12.

In the opening ceremony have been present, among others, José Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM;

Ramón Sánchez Parra president of the Real y Muy Ilustre Cabildo Superior de Cofradías;

José Manuel Lorca Planes, Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, and Jesús Francisco Pacheco, Delegate Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture of the City of Murcia.

In addition, the painter himself, Fulgencio Saura Mira, has been at the opening of the exhibition that collects his works.

In the Salzillo Museum, the fourth exhibition will be inaugurated, in this case of photography, under the motto 'Colores de pasión'.

Ramón Sánchez Parra has ensured that "from today until November 12, Murcia becomes the world capital of Holy Week."

On the other hand, José Manuel Lorca Planes has affirmed that through these exhibitions and the Congress the society will be able to enjoy the Holy Week before its date.

With regard to the Congress, José Luis Mendoza recalled that "we Christians live by faith, it is our support, but above all safeguarded by the cross of Christ, the theme of this congress."

III Congress

The Congress will bring together experts from different parts of the world, and will once again highlight, as it did 10 years ago, the intense devotion with which Holy Week is lived in the Region of Murcia.

The first International Congress of Brotherhoods and Fraternities took place in Seville, and the second was in 2007 in Murcia, a city that repeats when the San Antonio Catholic University designated by the Vatican as permanent headquarters.

Seventeen photographers from Murcia have participated, contributing three images each, in this exhibition that includes a total of 51 photographs that show the beauty of the Holy Week in Murcia.

PLACE: SAN ANTONIO CONVENT

The exhibition includes 15 processionary sculptures from the Region of Murcia.

A journey through Christian art through: Reclining Christ, Christ of Health, Our Father Jesus of Medinaceli, Christ of Saint Clair La Real, Christ Crucified, Ecce Homo, Christ of the Agony, Virgin of Bitterness, Risen Christ, Christ of the Expiration, Christ of Clemency, Our Father Jesus of Nazareth, Christ of the Shelter, Christ of the Refuge and Our Father Jesus of the Rescue.
